For 3 to 5 employees, most firms find a space between 500 and 1,000 square feet to be appropriate. This will give you and your employees a place to call your own. If the office space is bigger than what you need, you may be able to share the suite with another small company or several solo workers… just be sure to ask the landlord about whether or not you are allowed to sublease. Depending on the area though, finding offices for rent that are smaller than 2,000 square feet might be a challenge. You might want to also consider subleasing part of a larger space yourself – i.e. find someone who might have a bigger space than they need, and split the space with them.
